Trust is the whole point of a site like this. Here’s how we research, write, review and update what we publish, so you know what to expect from every article.
Where our information comes from
We give the most weight to sources that hold up to scrutiny:
- Systematic reviews, meta-analyses and well-designed clinical trials
- Health Canada guidance, product monographs and the Licensed Natural Health Products Database
- Official regulations and guidance from bodies such as the FDA, EFSA and Canada’s Competition Bureau
- Established industry and market research, with the source named clearly
We link to sources within articles wherever we can. When the evidence is weak, early or based mainly on animal studies, we say so plainly.
How we talk about health
- We don’t claim that any supplement treats, cures or prevents disease.
- We describe what research suggests, for whom, and at what doses.
- We flag common side effects, drug interactions and groups who should be cautious.
- We encourage readers to check with a health professional before making changes.
Independence
Our editorial decisions are made by our team alone. Advertisers, sponsors and partners have no say in what we cover or what we conclude. Contributors must tell us about any commercial interest connected to their topic, and we share relevant disclosures with readers.
Sponsored content and affiliate links
Sponsored content is always labelled as such. Some articles may include affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. This never affects what we recommend, and we’ll tell you when links are affiliate links.
How articles are written
Our articles are researched, written and edited by people. We may use software tools for tasks like spelling checks or organizing research notes, but every article is fact-checked and reviewed by a human editor before it goes live.
Updates and corrections
Research moves on and regulations change, so we review articles regularly and show the date of the latest update. If we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and note significant corrections at the bottom of the article. Spotted a problem? Please let us know.
